Canada Stamp #1883a - Snake and Chinese Symbol (2001) 47¢

Gold omitted

Extremely rare copy of the Year of the Snake with the gold inscription omitted, easily one of the scarcest omitted colour varieties there is and listed for an impressive $2,000 in the catalogue, rightly so as there are only 4 panes of 25 known, so a very meagre 100 copies exist!!!

There are some slightly shortened perforations at bottom, which is unfortunately frequent on the few copies known, because of the difficulty that there is into splitting these stamps with irregular shapes.

But it is also very conveniently still attached to its left sheet margin, which greatly enhances the visibility of the variety, as the gold colour is also missing on its extremity! Regular margin copy (#1883) included as a reference, a very spectacular item for an advanced collection!
