US Stamps - C - Air Mail
Air mail or Air Post stamps were used for the prepayment of postage for the premium service on all mailable matter sent by airmail. Inaugurated in 1918 U.S. airmail stamps documented the early history of aviation commerce, from biplanes to zeppelins to flying boats. The very first United States airmail stamps featured the Curtis Jenny biplane, and are widely recognized even by non-collectors because of the accidental inverted Jenny variant that was printed and is among the most valuable US stamps.
