US Stamps - RW - Hunting Permit

The Hunting Permit stamps of the United States of America were first issued in 1934 by an Act of Congress. Their purpose is to preserve waterfowl life in the U.S. A hunter is required to purchase one of these to validate his hunting permit for water birds (ducks, geese, etc.). Furthermore, nowadays hunters are also required to possess a state hunting permit, so each state also has its own stamps. The federal stamps are known as the RW (ex. RW1), while we have identified the state stamps like so “RW-AK1”, where the “AK” stands for the state code, in this case Alaska.
