Plate Block (Upper Right) - VF - Plate #A-3
(PB-UR-140)
An exceedingly rare inscription block of the famous 1929 Bluenose, showing the full plate imprint #A-3 in the upper selvages. Only one stamp is lightly hinged, the other three are never hinged (NH premium not counted on any stamp). Considering this stamp is universally recognized as one of the most iconic Canadian stamps ever issued, it is a real philatelic treat to behold!
PS: Due to the way sheets were printed on this issue, the plate inscriptions were not aligned with the corners of the sheet, so it is normal that there are no margins on the right, as this was impossible with only four stamps, therefore this block is complete and it is as listed in the catalogue.
PPS: We also know this is an upper right block because the "9 3 6 Y" inscription is aligned with the right perforations, whereas on an upper left block it is the "OTTAWA" inscription that would be aligned on the left perforations!
