Canada Stamp #480 - Narwhal (1968) 5¢

An extremely interesting trio of different colours of the 1968 Narwhal stamp! The regular stamp is supposed to have a water colour that is a mix of blue & green! However, we can see here on display a predominantly green stamp (with almost no blue) and a predominantly blue stamp (with almost no green)!

As stated in a footnote in the catalogue, these divergences of colour were caused by light exposure and are not printing varieties. However, we had to go through many thousands of copies to be able to assemble only a few of these trios, so it is pretty difficult to find examples with such different contrasts!

PS: These trios are unchecked for the scarcer fluorescences DF (#480i) & F (#480ii), but we had to use some of these varieties in order to assemble them, therefore it might be worth checking for an extra bit of philatelic fun!
