Dubai is the most populated city in United Arab Emirates. It is located on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf. Before becoming a part of the UAE, there is evidence that Dubai had already existed for at least 150 years. It was a town which was an important port due to its proximity to India, and it was known for pearl exports up until the 1930s. The pearling industry is now defunct, so Dubai's main revenue comes from financial services, tourism and real estate. It postal history stretches from 1963-1972, the year when it became part of the UAE.
